Concerning the Music of 2022

The good stuff, released thereabouts in the year 2022. Arranged very specifically, in no particular order. Guitars, jazz, space jambs, fizz bops, bleep outs, whirlyjigs, and hammer times. You know what it's all about. Follow along with this year’s playlist.

On December 14, 2022, we’re calling it locked in with 555 songs.

Highlights include:

The fantastic Makaya McCraven album In These Times. An album that shows an artist how is continually getting better and more exciting with every album.

Horsegirl’s Versions of Modern Performance. An album proving that the indie rock dream of the 90s is still alive and well. Thank god. See also: Ribbon Stage’s Hit With the Most.

I also loved Austin Leonard Jones’s Dead Calm. I won’t go so far as to say that Jones is at the level of David Berman, but he’s certainly carrying the torch of funny/sad poetic songs that have a knack of being sharp and witty, with wonderful turns of phrase. The only shame is that the album is over so quickly.
